Weekend Challenges
Ok, first if this has already been suggested, I apologize. I've given up on the search system.
I'm not quite sure how this could work. What I propose is only the seeds of an idea that could be better developed by A-Net or others in the community.
I currently play Guild Wars and also on www.pogo.com. If you're not familiar with Pogo, it's an online game site featuring many traditional games like Checkers, Bridge, Gin, Bingo, etc as well as many unique puzzle and solitaire games like Aces Up, Poppit, Mahjonng Garden, Harvest Mania, etc, etc. They have about 50-100 different games. Each week Pogo has "weekly challenges". You must accomplish a certain goal in one of the games and if you do, you receive a badge. The goals are always different. Some are quite challenging and others are easy.
I'd like to see something similiar in Guild Wars. Perhaps implemented as a Weekend event. Here are some ideas.....
Weekend Event: Vanquish 5 areas this weekend and win a free minipet.
Weekend Event: Get Masters on 2 Factions missions and win 5k.
Weekend Event: Score at least 100 points in the Dahja Inlet Challenge Mission and receive a free unique customized sword.
Weekend Event: Earn at least 5 fame points this weekend and receive 2 free Elite tomes of your choice.
Challenge prizes could either appear automatically in your inventory or a reward chest could appear at the end of the challenge. Whichever is easiest to implement. Challenges need not always be on the weekend either. Some challenges could be as short as a few hours, others lasting for a week.

You know, this sounds pretty fun, and like an idea that might work. I'm a big fan of their bonus weekends, but a lot of it has to do with things I never do, like Heroes Battles. These could serve well as an alternative for those not taking advantage of the bonus weekends.
I also see a lot of tangential benefits with this, but fear that listing them might detract from the thread and misdirect the conversation, so I will leave it simply as

The idea sounds good... your examples do not.
But I won't disagree with it only for the examples.
I'm not like those *points a random flamer*.
There sre some weekends with 'double' events, sometimes dye and keys... sometimes one PvE and another PvP...
It would be niec to have always one PvP and another PvE (or the current existing working for both, like alliegance faction weekends).

Good idea, bad implementation. They should alternate having double/triple weekends with this, but make these weekend challenges at least a challenge. It should be something that people would actually have to work hard for, and justify the rewards.
